About Broadway Theatre Project
Broadway Theatre Project is an annual non-profit musical theatre training program in Florida. For three weeks in July at the University of South Florida campus in Tampa Bay, Florida, the program's faculty teaches courses on the three core disciplines of musical theatre: acting, voice, and dancing. The goal of the program is to instill the skills required for students to succeed as musical theatre performers in the professional world of performing arts.
Celebrating its 22nd anniversary in 2012, Broadway Theatre Project is the original intensive musical theater training program for high school and college students. The faculty of BTP consists of dozens of professional educators, performers, residential artists, and guest artists. The resident and guest artists of the faculty are involved in a wide variety of performing arts careers around the world, allowing students to gain exposure and insight from professionals involved in many different aspects of the industry, including on-stage and behind-the-scenes careers. Courses taught at Broadway Theatre Project cover a range of essential topics, from the process of auditioning and preparing a resume to the business of touring with a theater group.
Auditions for Broadway Theatre Project are held at the beginning of each year in major cities nationwide. Taped auditions are also accepted. Administrative internships are available for students who are interested in pursuing a career in arts management.
In addition to the intensive summer program in Tampa, Florida, Broadway Theatre Project offers BTP Comes to You, which are custom-designed workshops directed by resident artists. BTP Comes to You sessions take place at high schools, community arts centers, performing arts schools, and colleges all across the United States. Past sessions of BTP Comes to You have taken place at Carnegie Mellon University, Texas State University, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the Boston Conservatory, and the University of Northern Colorado.
